These burners can be used in applications where particular process conditions have been requested, for example operation in an environment with reduced atmosphere or an under-stoichiometric combustion ratio: complete combustion is guaranteed but without the production of particulates and without subsequent alterations to the material heating process.

In specific cases these are used for cleaning the material (e.g.; strips). The main characteristics of these burners is the high turndown they are able to maintain even when functioning at a low stoichiometric combustion ratio.
